Before BMW, the rights to the Mini name were owned by the Rover Group. After a couple of years, BMW broke up the Rover Group. It sold its assets separately, except for the Mini brand. Today, two production plants are responsible for manufacturing the Mini Coopers. One is in Oxford, England, while the other is Born, Netherlands.
The Cooper S model received a supercharged 1.6-liter four-pot powerplant. The diesel version came later on, and MINI carried it over from Toyota. One key element for the MINI was the independent
Here is the short answer to how long the Mini Cooper lasts: A Mini Cooper can last between 200,000 – 250,000 miles on average when properly maintained and driven conservatively. If you were to drive 15,000 miles per year, a Mini should provide 13 – 17 years of service before requiring uneconomical repairs or breaking down.
The engine, I might add, is the same B48 engine as in the new BMW X1, so it’s actually a BMW engine and not a MINI engine. That means that you can get a very fun, very dynamic and even very
Do Mini Coopers have BMW engines? Six all-new engines are offered for this Mini, four petrol and two diesels: two models of a 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol with either 75 PS or 102 PS, a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder petrol with 136 PS, (BMW B38 engine), a 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol (BMW B48 engine) that produces 192 PS for the Cooper S, and a 1.5

MINI uses letter codes for chassis designations. They used " R " for their GEN1 and GEN2 models, then changed to " F " for the GEN3. They also added a 2 digit identifier for each chassis type. So, the R-type MINI Coopers designators are: R50, R52, R53, R55, R56, R57, R58, R59, R60, R61.
The 2017 Mini Cooper comes with a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine that makes 134 horsepower. Cooper S models have a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine good for 189 horsepower. The John Cooper Works trims also feature a four-cylinder engine but with an output of 228 horsepower. The Mini Cooper comes standard with a six

The history of the BMW Group reaches back to 1916. Today, the four brands BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, and BMW Motorrad make the BMW Group one of the world’s leading premium suppliers of automobiles, motorcycles, as well as mobility services. Since the beginning of its history, the company has kept its sight firmly set on the future and has
Future MINIs will be powered by three and four-cylinder engines, including 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged units, which BMW say will “set new standards in terms of output, performance, comfort and reliability.”. MINI’s diesel engines have also been overhauled with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel unit that is 7 per cent more fuel
To figure this out, first you need to know what model year you have. Next you need to know if you have an "S" model with the turbocharged engine, or non-S or "justa" model. "S" and JCW models can be easily identified by the hood scoop and badging. Cooper (non-turbocharged) 2007 - 2010: N12. Cooper (non-turbocharged) 2011 - 2013: N16.

From reading a few posts here it seems the N14 engine (used in the 2007-2010 R56?) has a bit of a bad reputation for reliability. Earlier engines good, later engines good, N14 in the middle not so good.
