7. Defective key fob. If your Golf key fob stopped working after you dropped it on the floor, you may have damaged the internal chip. Or, if your key fob just stopped working one day out of the blue, in rare cases this could indicate a faulty key fob – assuming you have tried everything to fix the issue e.g. battery replacement, reprogramming and the spare key fob works.

Ground should be a brown cable and indicator wire should be a black/brown cable for left side and black/green for right side. That said, the wire does not move around, so it should not be broken.

I hav a mk4 gt tdi golf. every now and then I get 3 beebs and the dash comp flashes stop at me !! it seems to do it wen the car corners abruptly. all levels r ok. car is serviced regular. had it on snap on diagnostic and shows no fault codes for anything . so am stumped any ideas suggestionsI do not need that. My advice: get yourself an AA battery powered LED torch and some cupboard lights. I must admit that my Mk4 does not have any "convenience module" so a simple fuse removal did the job. Maybe I'll connect the interior lighting back to the battery one day but for sure this won't be a starting battery. Looking into the engine compartment, the speed ( or distance) sensor lives on a shelf right at the back of the gearbox on the right hand side.
